Woodside man found dead in bathtub
Detectives are investigating the killing of a Queens man who was found dead in his bathtub Wednesday with what police described as two puncture wounds to his head.
The 62-year-old Woodside man was discovered Wednesday morning after a friend became concerned when he could not reach him, police sources said. The friend went to the apartment building on 39th Dr. and then contacted the super, who let him inside the flat.
The man’s name has not been released by police.
Police officials described the case as a homicide investigation, but the city medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine how he died. Police would only say the man had suffered traumatic injuries to his head, and it was not clear how long he had been dead before he was found.

God rest him.
Why a surge in crimes for Woodside/Sunnyside?
Prayers for the victim and his loved ones.
The 108th will handle this? Good luck with that one! And yes, the people in my building have been discussing the surge in crime, especially the elderly who have told me they are afraid to go to the bank by themselves. Why the surge? I am guessing because it is so easy to escape because of the number 7 (when it is running, ha ha) and the highways. I also think the criminals have figured out which precincts are no nonsense and this is not one of them! And I have policemen friends who tell me this.
Judging from friends and relatives who live in different areas throughout the City, the surge in crime is everywhere, unfortunately. I frequently ride the subways in Manhattan to run lunchtime errands mid-day, and the subways are slowly creeping back to the way they were years ago. Panhandlers, gangs of kids running around terrorizing people when they should be in school, etc. I hesitate to blame the police too much because there have been major cut backs in that area, and a majority have to be stationed in Manhattan to deal with terror threats, demonstrations, etc.
On a positive note for our neighborhood, last Wednesday evening I saw vans full of Auxiliary cops being dropped off to patrol the area.
So many more people pass through the neighborhood than they used to. Both on foot and by car. The retail developments on Northern Boulevard bring people from all over who now see a neighborhood that was off the beaten track. In my book, all this has brought a decline in the quality of life. Most people, however, call it progress. Oh, well.
Did they take his kidneys?
