COUNCIL MEMBER JIMMY VAN BRAMER, DISTRICT 26, CELEBRATED HIS GROUNDBREAKING INAUGURATION ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 2010

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer was Joined by Senator Schumer, Speaker Quinn, Congress Member Crowley, Congress Member Maloney, Congress Member Velasquez, Assembly Member Nolan, Public Advocate de Blasio, Comptroller Liu, Borough President Marshall, Borough President Stringer, State Senators, State Assembly Members, City Council Members, Bishop Taylor, CEO, Queens Library, Thomas W. Galante and Members of the Community to Witness his Inauguration and Celebrate his New Term

This past Saturday, the 800 seat, two-tiered theater at the Frank Sinatra School of the Performing Arts High School (Astoria, Queens), was filled to capacity with all available space filled with standing spectators. Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer was sworn into office by State Supreme Court Member Judge Paul G. Feinman, and was joined by elected officials, community organizations and local school groups. Attendees enjoyed performances by the Sunnyside Drum Corps, Aviation High School Color Guard, and opera singer Nicholle Bittlingmeyer, and the Center of Hope International Choir closed out the event with two spirited numbers. A video montage, designed and produced by the Chocolate Factory Theater, opened the show, displaying images of Jimmy’s historic, grassroots campaign and all of the people in the community who made his inauguration possible.

  1. So much for a “fresh face”. The usual suspects such as Schumer, Velasquez and Nolan were present but no Gillibrand? What a surprise. Members of the Working Families (communist) Party were also in attendance along with Acorn. Think AG Cuomo will investigate their “wrongdoing”?

    Quite a crowd for a “newcomer”, eh? Same old Democrat business in the Nanny City border borough of the Nanny State.
