Graffitti Busters

Two graffitti miscreants continue to plague the neighborhood by tagging stores, poles and walls in the neighborhood.

On April 18, a local group of residents dedicated to graffitti removal, painted over tags, such as “Bam” and “Kika,” on the walls of 43rd Street and 43rd Ave (by Bill’s Liquor Store).  The Sunnyside group –Sunnyside United– had paint brushes, silver paint, rollers and pans to take care of the vandalism.
Tony Rohling, SUNN group president, and his band of 5 devotees made quick work of it. He said: “The more people we have the better the neighborhood will look. Make sure you come out on May 2.”
Sunnyside United and its core of volunteers have been active for many years, he said, adding that they have generated political and business support.
One week later, BAM struck again.  Who knows when or where he will reappear. But it has become clear that it is a game of cat and mouse between SUNN and the taggers!!
